It was the great English composer, Benjamin Britten who first said that the voice is the person.

Listening to Helen Cochrane singing was always a revelation; not only a superb artist but of the sincere, open and loveable person that touched so many lives, especially her singing colleagues. Her personal integrity and sincerity always showed in her singing which was underpinned by a technical assurance, a clarity of diction and a perfection of the legato line. All these qualities were subsumed in a naturalness of performance that contained her individual and distinctive emotion and nuance.
